Panel Addresses Issues African-American Women Face in the Media
Celebrate Women’s History Month and gain a local perspective of the experiences and challenges African-American women face working in the media at a special panel discussion led by SCETV’s P.A. Bennett at 3 p.m. on Sunday, March 30 at the Richland County Public Library, 1431 Assembly St.
Panelists include Carolyn Sawyer, chief executive officer and chief strategist of The Tom Sawyer Company; Dana F. Tucker, publisher and editor-in-chief of How We Live Magazine; Dr. Shirley Staples Carter, director of the University of South Carolina School of Journalism and Mass Communication; Judi Gatson, anchor at WIS News 10; and Vernessa Pendergrass, public affairs director at WWDM 101.3 FM.
A book signing by Carolyn Sawyer, panelist and author of Forget the Glass Slipper, Build Your Own Castle: 10 Traits of a Million Dollar Business will follow.
